The World Games Athlete of September 2022

The World Games Athlete of September 2022

Congratulations to Nina Holt from Germany, IWGA Athlete of the Month for September 2022.

It's a golden year for the Life Saver from Germany. At the World Championships in Riccione, Italy last week, the 19-year-old won two gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Nina Holt was unbeatable in the finals of the 50m Manikin Carry and 100m Rescue Medley, where she made a new World Record. In Manikin Relay and Medley Relay her team got silver medals, and in the 200 m Obstacle Swimdiscipline she finished third, as well as in the Obstacle Relay and Ocean Relay with the German team.

Nina Holt is indeed used to gold. This year she has already won four golds and one bronze at the The World Games 2022 in Birmingham. In the ranking of multi-medalists, the athlete from Germany took second place. Already in March, Holt had set a world record in the Rescue Medley at the German Championships in Warendorf. Indeed a golden year for Nina Holt!

Originally, the Life Saving World Championships were scheduled for 2020, but due to the Corona pandemic the competition had to be postponed for two years. For Nina Holt, they came at just the right time.

Since November 2021 the Life Saver has been member of the Sports Promotion Group of the German Armed Forces in Warendorf. When asked why she prefers to compete in Life Saving rather than swimming, she says, "It's more challenging."

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association, organised with the support of the International Olympic Committee. The World Games 2022 was held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 7-17 July 2022. 3,600 athletes from 34 sports and 100 countries took part in the Games. The 12th edition of The World Games will be held in Chengdu, CHN in 2025.
