The 2nd edition of The World Games Series (TWGS) took place in Chengdu, China, from 28 -30 March 2025 at the Chengdu Sport University Sancha Lake Campus.
After the successful inaugural event, in Hong Kong, China, in October 2024, TWG Series continued to bring world-class athletes together, offering them additional international exposure. This event served as one of the qualifiers for The World Games 2025, offering coveted spots in three featured sports.
Underwater (World Underwater Federation, CMAS), Life Saving (International Life Saving Federation, ILS) and Boules Sports (World Pétanque and Boules Federation, WPBF) featured on the three-day programme.
- A total of 128 athletes competed, achieving full gender parity.
- 64 in Underwater (Finswimming: 24 men, 24 women; Freediving 8 men, 8 women)
- 48 in Life Saving (24 men, 24 women)
- 16 in Boules Sports (8 men, 8 women)
Qualifications
Quota places for TWG 2025 were allocated following this second leg, as follows:
Boules Sports
- Pétanque (discipline), Precision shooting (event): 2 places in total: 1 man, 1 woman
Life Saving
- 3 Chinese athletes will qualify for TWG 2025
Underwater
- In Finswimming: the races’ winners will qualify if they haven't qualified so far. Up to 12 spots will be up for grabs but the total number of qualifications will likely be 1 or 2.
- 4 places in Freediving: 2 athletes per gender
