Disciplines at The World Games 2025: K-1 Style, Point Fighting

Kickboxing is a combat sport which features seven disciplines. It is a dynamic modern sport designed to improve overall health, strength and endurance. It combines various palettes of punches and kicks in effective fighting techniques.

To win, athletes try to score more points through hand or foot techniques than their opponent. Athletes can also win by a stop before the end of the match (technical knockout). The duration of a bout is 3 rounds of 2 minutes each, with a break of 1 minute. Kickboxing is a very versatile and physical sport which uses a ring or a mat (tatami).

K-1 Style is a full-contact kickboxing discipline that emphasizes striking power, endurance, and tactical execution. Fighters compete in a ring, using punches, kicks, and knee strikes with full aggression. Unlike other full-contact kickboxing styles, K1 style allows limited clinching, enabling fighters to land only one knee strike before being separated.

Point Fighting Kickboxing  is a discipline that highlights speed, accuracy, and reaction time. Fought on a matted surface, it is a dynamic, stop-and-go format where fighters aim to score clean, controlled strikes on their opponents. After each successful technique, the match is briefly paused to award points, emphasizing precision over power.
