FICS can fix best performance

Can we fix it? Yes, FICS can!

Dr. Brian Nook, Chef de Mission of The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) at The World Games 2017, has introduced the medical services provided by his team. At the daily IWGA Press Conference, hosted by Communications Director Anna Jacobson, Dr. Brian Nook explained:

“We have 40 sports chiropractors from 13 different nations who have volunteered their time to take care of any athlete who asks for their service.”

And they do it free of charge, as volunteers.

FICS provides care off the field, preparing athletes in order that they can perform at their best. The chiropractors provide support to the IWGA, the Wroclaw Organising Committee and the volunteers involved in the event as well. They have worked with The World Games since 2005, when Duisburg in Germany hosted the Games.

But what kind of treatment are they actually giving? The sports chiropractic treatment consists of assessment for any musculoskeletal conditions and functional deficiencies, and then provides therapeutic treatment through manipulation, exercise, stretching, soft tissue work, strapping and functional taping as required. Brian Nook used an allegory to make it easier to understand:

“We are like the mechanics working on a formula 1 car. We need to tune it up so that the driver can do his best on the race track. If something goes wrong, he comes to us and we fix it for him.”

Chiropractic treatment is available at almost all venues at The World Games in Wroclaw, and it is being highly appreciated as an awesome service. The feedback Dr. Brian Nook and his team have received from the athletes has been very positive. The chiropractors have received numerous thank you notes and several praising Facebook posts during the first five days of TWG 2017. For good reason: the FICS service helps athletes to strive for the best. Dr. Brian Nook: “Several athletes we have treated got gold and other medals.” For example, they worked quite intensively with the U.S. Flying Disc Team. “After the team got their gold medals, they came to our treatment centre and thanked us and lifted all the medals up.”  Ask why FICS provides its service at The World Games for free? This is probably one of the best answers.
