IWGA moves to Lausanne

The International World Games Association (IWGA) will move its office from Colorado Springs/Colorado/USA to Lausanne, Switzerland. This was announced by the IWGA board on Monday.

The official opening of the new office within the Maison du Sports is scheduled for February 2015. “We expect closer cooperation with our members after establishing our headquarters in the Olympic capital, home to many International Federations,” IWGA President José Perurena explained the move which he had promised right after his election in Belek/Turkey in April 2014.

On Thursday 22 January, the IWGA will announce the name of the Host City for The World Games 2021. IWGA President José Perurena will present the result of the Executive Committee’s vote at a press conference in the Mövenpick Hotel in Lausanne at 11:15am. Birmingham (USA), Lima (Peru) and Ufa (Russia) have applied to host the 11th edition of our multi-sport event in 2021.

 

About The World Games

The World Games – under the patronage of the IOC - are a quadrennial and multidisciplinary sports event, which showcase 35+ sports, such as Gymnastics, Squash, Tug of War, Sumo and Roller Sports. About 4,500 athletes and officials from approximately 100 countries take part in the Event. The 10th edition of The World Games will take place in Wroclaw/ Poland from 20 to 30 July 2017.
