Frankfurt, Germany, 27 June 2025 – The International World Games Association (IWGA) and the German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) signed on 26 June 2025 a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a special celebration held in Frankfurt, Germany. The event, hosted in honour of German athletes qualified for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, also marked the official distribution of national uniforms by the DOSB.

The MoU reaffirms the mutual commitment of the IWGA and DOSB to promote non-Olympic sports, enhance international cooperation, and support athletes on the road to The World Games. The agreement outlines key areas of collaboration including event promotion, athlete support, and shared communication strategies. It also includes specific support measures for DOSB delegations and the organisation of future events.

This strategic alliance which will run until the 2029, gains even greater significance as Germany prepares to host the 13thedition of The World Games in 2029 in Karlsruhe.

José Perurena, President of the IWGA, highlighted the importance of this partnership: "This agreement for the next four years marks a significant milestone in our relationship with the DOSB. As we look ahead to The World Games 2029 in Karlsruhe, this MoU lays the foundation for a deeper and more impactful cooperation to benefit athletes, federations, and fans of our unique sports."

Thomas Weikert, President of the DOSB, added: "We are proud to formalise our partnership with the IWGA at such a meaningful moment. Supporting our athletes on their journey to Chengdu 2025 and beyond to Karlsruhe 2029 is a priority. This MoU ensures that we align our efforts to elevate The World Games and its values across Germany and beyond."

The IWGA and DOSB share a common vision of promoting excellence, inclusiveness, and sustainability in sport. The MoU takes immediate effect and is part of a long-term strategy to support non-Olympic sports on a global stage.

The IWGA wishes the German athletes, historically at the very top of the medal table in The World Games, the very best for Chengdu 2025.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee.
