The 5th Coordination Committee (CoCom) meeting for The World Games 2025 concluded today in Chengdu, China, marking a key milestone just over a month before the Games open on 7 August.
Held on 29–30 June, the meeting gathered key representatives from the International World Games Association (IWGA), the Local Organising Committee (LOC), and partners to review final operational, logistical, and strategic elements in preparation for the Games.
The meeting was chaired by IWGA Vice President and CoCom Chair Tom Dielen, alongside IWGA CEO Joachim Gossow and IWGA Deputy CEO Guillaume Felli, and representatives from the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Chengdu LOC.
Topics covered in the two-day session included general LOC updates, sports operations and competition schedule, Games Services such as accommodation, catering, transport logistics, volunteer staffing and ticketing, ceremonies & cultural events, media & broadcast operations, marketing & sponsorship, security & insurance, and finally budget & reporting.
“We are extremely impressed by the professionalism and commitment demonstrated by the Chengdu LOC,” said IWGA Vice President Tom Dielen. “The preparations are progressing with remarkable efficiency and attention to detail. We are confident that Chengdu is ready to deliver an unforgettable edition of The World Games.”
Two more CoCom meetings are scheduled to wrap up the cooperation between IWGA and the LOC on 6 August 2025, on the eve of the Opening Ceremony, and the 7th and last one scheduled for autumn 2025 to conclude the coordination and present the LOC’s final report.
With momentum building and cooperation reaching its final stages, the IWGA and the Chengdu LOC reaffirmed their commitment to delivering an extraordinary edition of The World Games.
The global multi-sport event will bring around 4,000 athletes from close to 120 countries competing in 60 disciplines to Chengdu from 7–17 August 2025.
