Lausanne, Switzerland, 25 June 2025- The International World Games Association (IWGA) has released the final Evaluation Report for The World Games Series 2025 - Chengdu, highlighting record-breaking achievements in international participation, fan engagement, and operational excellence.
Held from 28-30 March at the Sancha Lake Campus of Chengdu Sport University, the event marked a significant milestone for The World Games Series. Located in the city's Eastern New District, the campus hosted competitions at its 800-seat natatorium and 300-capacity Boules Sports Court-both of which will again serve as venues during The World Games 2025 this August.
The Chengdu edition saw a notable expansion in scale and reach compared to the inaugural event in Hong Kong in October 2024. Conducted by IWGA's strategic partner, Quantum, the Evaluation Report identifies the event as a vital step in the evolution of The World Games Series, and a key qualifier for The World Games 2025.
Key Facts and Figures
124 athletes from 28 countries competed across three sports and four disciplines: Boules Sports (Precision Shooting), Life Saving, and Underwater Sports (Finswimming and Freediving).
4,393 attendees were recorded, including 311 officials, staff, and technicians.
Athlete and IF satisfaction was high, with 90% of athletes and 77% of IF representatives rating their experience as "good" or "very good" in the post-event survey.
Media Reach and Engagement
In China, CCTV and local broadcasters provided extensive highlights and news coverage.
Global live streaming via the IWGA's platform, The World Games Live, offered over 18 hours of broadcast, generating 9,288 views.
Total media reach:56 million viewers, with CCTV accounting for 75% of total viewership
12 media outlets, including 4 pan-regional agencies, acquired news access rights, reaching 72 million households
Digital coverage included nearly 500 articles, with global mentions from countries including Spain, Belgium, Germany, and the USA.
Social media saw the greatest reach on Facebook. IWGA's owned accounts accounted for 65% of all posts, while earned media delivered 97% of total reach.
