Executive Committee
In the year following The World Games, the IWGA General Meeting elects a seven-member Executive Committee to a term of four years. This board coordinates and supervises all matters related to The World Games on behalf of the Member IFs.
The board's tasks include making recommendations for the selection of suitable host cities and serving as the permanent liaison between the IWGA and the games' organizers.

The Interim IWGA Athletes’ Committee has been operational since the end of 2022. The committee is currently composed of 7 athletes, including the Chair of the Committee Sandra Sanchez (Karate, ESP). The interim committee holds regular online meeting. Sandra Sanchez has attended all IWGA Executive Committee (ExCo) Meetings since her appointment as Chair of the IWGA Athletes’ Committee, providing valuable input and giving a true voice to the athletes of The World Games at decision-making level.
Modifications to the IWGA Constitution and By-Laws have been ratified at the 2024 AGM regarding the new provisions to officially accommodate the IWGA Athletes’ Committee within its structure. Upon approval, the elected Chair of the IWGA Athletes’ Committee will become a voting member of the IWGA ExCo.
The current IWGA Interim Athletes’ Committee, together with ExCo Member Jan Fransoo, are currently preparing the election process that will take place during TWG 2025. It will elect the IWGA Athletes’ Committee for the period 2025-2029.
Elections to be held online in August 2025 during The World Games 2025 Chengdu. The IWGA Member Federations will be invited to submit candidates by the first quarter of 2025.
The World Games participating athletes will elect the Athletes Committee Members at each edition of The World Games for a four-year term.
