Japanese success on climbing wall

In Sport Climbing the Japanese enjoyed a productive morning, topping the bouldering qualification round in both men’s and wome’ns competitions. Tomoa Narasaki and Akiyo Noguchi seemed to be inspired by the visit to the event of IOC President Thomas Bach and produced some agile performances on a difficult climbing wall.

Records after each other

Fans at the lifesaving competitions had plenty to cheer as multiple records for The World Games tumbled. Italian Federica Volpini led off the record breakers with her qualification victory in the Womens 100m Mannequin carry with fins. However her place in the record books was short lived as two heats later, France's Justine Weyders immediately bettered her time. In the mens equivalent events, Jacopo Musso set a new Games mark only to see it beaten in the very next heat by fellow Italian Andrea Piroddi. The lesson is clear, if you are not a confident swimmer, make sure you visit an Italian beach!

Then, incredibly German lifesaver Jan Malkowski became the fifth lifesaver in six consecutive races to break The World Games record. The next race was the Womens 200m SuperLifesaver and true to the way the morning was going, French lady Margaux Fabre set yet another Games best. Guess what happened next, exactly, the writer of the record books had to use an eraser once more as Australian Prue Davies overtook Margaux's time two heats later! There was also joy for the host nation as Poland established a new record for the Mens 4x 50m Obstacle relay.

USA vs USA in bowling

Following the qualifying games, it is a controversial start for the Round of 16 with competition favorite’s USA and Korea. Both countries draw each other as components in the final round before the quarter finals.

In the USA vs USA match, seasoned Champion Kelly Kulick was stronger than PBA and World Cup winner Danielle McEwan. In the Korea Vs Korea match, Moonjeong Kim defeated Sujin Kang.

Unlucky speed skaters

It was bad luck for the Polish Speed Skating men this morning as they were the only two athletes not to make it through to the final! 14 skaters competed in the qualification round of the Men’s 300m Time Trial, but only 12 athletes could make it through to the final. Jan Swiatek missed out on the final by 0.764 seconds. The other Polish skater, Gawel Oficjalski, was disqualified.
