The countdown is on.

On Saturday, 28 November, the City of Wrocław started the countdown to The World Games 2017. With 600 days left, the Local Organizing Committee prepared a sports event in one of the largest shopping malls in the city.

600 days until The World Games Wroclaw 2017The audience could test its strength on a rowing ergometer and watch the world champions in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll. There were almost 20 different TWG sports on display, with Muaythai and Karate fighters, American Footballers or Squash players having workshops and presenting the their disciplines.

One could meet the official mascots of The World Games 2017 in their “life-size” version as well as to win miniatures during the TWG trivia competitions.

Paweł Rańda, Olympic runner-up in rowing and The World Games 2017 Ambassador also attended the event and led the final round of indoors rowing Wrocław Open Championship.

The Local Organizing Committee will prepare more promotional events during the final countdown. There are already plans for at least 20 large-scale events in 2016.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The World Games 2025 are currently taking place in Chengdu (CHN) until 17 August 2025. 4,000 athletes from more than 110 countries are taking part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA) in 2022.
