IWGA celebrates 50-Day countdown with superb medal reveal for TWG 2025

published on 18 June

Chengdu, China – 18 June 2025 — With just 50 days remaining until The World Games 2025 Chengdu (7–17 August), the International World Games Association (IWGA) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have unveiled the official medals that will be awarded to over 4,000 athletes from close to 120 countries and regions competing in this global multi-sport event.

The newly revealed medals are a celebration of both international sporting excellence and Chengdu’s rich cultural heritage. Shaped in the likeness of a panda’s head, complete with signature rounded ears, the medals pay homage to Chengdu’s most beloved symbol and a treasured icon of China.

The front design features elegant bamboo motifs, reflecting the natural beauty and symbolism of Chengdu, while the reverse side showcases the hibiscus flower, known locally as the "city flower" of Chengdu. Crafted in classic gold, silver, and bronze, the medals also feature bilingual inscriptions in English and Chinese, echoing this year’s theme: “Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders.”

“These medals represent far more than the sport performance — they are a heartfelt tribute to the host city, its culture, and the unifying spirit of The World Games,” said IWGA President José Perurena. “The panda-inspired design strikes a beautiful balance between playfulness and meaning, and we believe it will be cherished by every athlete who earns it.”

Each medal also features laser-engraved textures, the official TWG 2025 Chengdu logo, and commemorative inscriptions, making them a true collector’s item and a symbol of global sport.
