Croatia is FIL's 53rd Member Nation

The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) announces that Croatia has been approved to become its 53rd member nation by a December 2015 postal vote of federation members.

FIL Director of Development, Tom Hayes, was enthusiastic about Croatia's membership, saying, "The FIL welcomes the Croatia Lacrosse Association as its new member. The addition of Croatia brings the number of lacrosse playing nations in the Balkans to five. We look forward to including Croatia in future FIL championship events." Croatia joins Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey as FIL members from the Balkan region. FIL is one of 37 IWGA member federations. Lacrosse will be on the program of the 10th edtion of The World Games, taking place from 20 to 30 July 2017 in Wroclaw/Poland.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The World Games 2025 are currently taking place in Chengdu (CHN) until 17 August 2025. 4,000 athletes from more than 110 countries are taking part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA) in 2022.
