Lausanne, Switzerland, 29 April 2025 – With just 100 days to go until the Opening Ceremony of The World Games 2025, the International World Games Association (IWGA) is proud to announce major milestones in the lead-up to the 12th edition of its flagship event, taking place from 7–17 August 2025 in Chengdu, China.
The IWGA, in partnership with International Sports Broadcasting (ISB), has secured a first wave of broadcasting agreements to deliver the Games to audiences around the world.
Following strong international interest in the television and digital rights, the following broadcasters have signed on for exclusive and non-exclusive coverage of The World Games 2025:
- STVR – Slovakia
- Optimum – Thailand
- Abu Dhabi Sports TV – United Arab Emirates
- Polsat – Poland
- Elta – Chinese Taipei
These strategic deals represent the foundation of the most comprehensive broadcast plan in the history of The World Games, with live coverage of most sessions and global distribution across multiple platforms. This approach builds on the successful model of The World Games 2022 in Birmingham (USA), which reached over 268 million viewers in 61 territories and delivered more than 1,600 hours of broadcast content.

To complement the broadcast strategy, the IWGA is set to launch The World Games Live, its first-ever official streaming platform, in July 2025. The platform will provide free live and on-demand access to event coverage, highlights, and real-time results—ensuring fans, athletes, and stakeholders can follow the action wherever they are.
In just a 100 days, The World Games 2025 will welcome 4,000 athletes from over 110 countries, who will compete in 34 sports, 60 disciplines, and 255 medal events. The competitions will be hosted across 27 state-of-the-art venues—12 indoor and 15 outdoor—arranged in 8 clusters, supported by two Athletes Villages. This will mark the first time The World Games are held in China, showcasing Chengdu’s efficient sporting infrastructure and proved experience in hosting prestigious internation multi-sport events.

Also for the first time in the event’s history, The World Games will feature a dedicated Torch Relay, adding a new dimension to the whole experience. As part of this historic moment, 120 distinguished torchbearers will be selected based on their contributions to sport to participate in the inaugural Torch Relay race on 26 July 2025. This landmark relay will extend beyond the host city, carrying the spirit of The World Games to diverse communities, fostering unity, and inspiring sporting dreams across the globe.
