Fitness and Bodybuilding

Following a specific formula, the competitions in men’s world-level Bodybuilding competitions are performed in nine body-weight and five body-height categories.

Athletes train to develop all body parts and muscles to maximum size but in balance and harmony. There should be no ‘weak points’ or underdeveloped muscles. Those who can display more muscle details score higher in a contest. A general view of a competitor’s physique is also judged. These qualities are displayed during two physique assessment rounds that incorporate a range of compulsory poses.

There is also a routine round when athletes can show their physique during a 60-second free posing routine performed to the music of their choice. It is an attractive, artistic presentation, including compulsory and non-compulsory poses and other types of movement.

Bodybuilding was on The World Games programme 1981–2009.
