L’Equipe to cover The World Games 2022

The sports channel L'Equipe has secured the TV rights in France for The 2022 World Games in Birmingham, USA. This has been announced by international media rights marketer ISB, based in Spain. ISB is acting on behalf of the International World Games Association to negotiate the international broadcasting rights of the multi-sport event from 7 to 17 July in Alabama.

The agreement with L'Equipe includes exclusive rights to broadcast the TV signal from the Games in Birmingham, Alabama free to air in France. Ursula Romero, CEO of ISB, says of the collaboration with the French s ports channel: "The World Games are showcasing the world's biggest multi-sport event of this summer. L'Equipe as a 360 degrees sports platform will give the world-class athletes from the numerous traditional and new sports a big stage in France."

Ursula Romero added: “We are currently underway to set these stages for the outstanding performers in several other countries all over the world.”

L’Equipe will decide on the exact programming in the coming month, after the qualifications have been completed. Already, 180 athletes from France have booked their ticket to compete at TWG 2022. As of 10 February 2022, France will be represented in at least 80 of the 223 medal events. These include competitions in Boules, Bowling, Canoe Polo, Karate, Roller Sports and Waterskiing. In the eternal medal tally of The World Games, which have been held every four years since 1981, France is in fifth place, behind Italy, the USA, Germany and Russia.
