The Czech House based on the Olympic model

The Czech House is on the boat Barka Tumska, which is in the very heart of the city, just a five-minute walk from Rynek, the main square in Wroclaw. On the River Oder the Czech Team at The World Games have a facility based on the Olympic model. Until Sunday 30th July the boat will be a place for relaxing, gathering and also celebrating success. It is also the place where athletes will find the Czech Mission management and necessary medical and physiotherapy support.

The Czech Team signs on the side of the boat can be seen from far away and a Czech flag is flying on the prow.

“Hello, I saw the flag; I live opposite over there and I came to take a look”

said one guest rather shyly, Honza, a Czech living in Wroclaw. He was welcomed by Martin Doktor, double Olympic champion at Atlanta and Chef de Mission at The World Games. Doktor is also Chef de Mission for Czech teams at the Olympics.

The Czech boat was officially opened in the evening of Sunday 23rd and it will formally close on Friday 28th July. “We will certainly come here for a beer, perhaps every day. It’s great that the Czech Olympic Committee has provided such a facility” says Jakub Jarolím, double medallist in finswimming at The Word Games. The Czech boat is at the heart of the Czech Team and is its formal base. Athletes have the same facilities here as they would do at the Olympic Games, which gives them the feeling of truly being part of the Czech Team.
