Gymnastics: Acro Men's Groups: The league of champions

During the past several years, members of Great Britain's Acrobatic Men's Groups have often stood on major podiums looking upwards at the Chinese, the gold standard in in this category of Acrobatic Gymnastics since 2012. However, Conor Sawenko, Charlie Tate, Lewis Watts and Adam Upcott got their moment Wednesday, as their crowd-pleasing final routine -- featuring flier Upcott mimicking answering a cell phone atop a human pyramid -- brought the house down. The medal was decided on the strength of superior Execution and Artistry scores by the British, despite an extraordinary display of Difficulty shown by Chinese world champions Li Zheng, Rui Liuming, Zhang Teng and Zhou Jiahuai, who took silver. Israel's Lidar Dana, Yannay Kalfa, Efi Sach and Daniel Uralevitch, the reigning World silver medalists, settled for bronze after two small slips marred an otherwise smooth routine.

Karate: Gold for the Family and Peru

It was a day to remember for Karate fans. The last day of action showcased a thrilling quest to gold that crowned the underdogs of the competition. Peru’s Alexandra Grande produced one of the biggest upsets of the event as the two-time Karate 1-Premier League gold medalist defeated favourite Anita Serogina of Ukraine in the final of Female Kumite -61kg. The Peruvian karateka showed firmness in her performance and claimed a 2-0 victory. “This victory is for my family, for my coach and for my country. I have been through a lot in the sport and now I just want to cry and celebrate this gold medal”, said the 27-year-old Karateka. She won the first gold medal for Peru in The World Games history.

Powerlifting: Emotional Polish gold medalist goes viral

If there is one thing better than seeing a gold awarded to an athlete, it is when the medal is presented in front of deliriously happy home fans. However what tops even that, is when the golden recipient breaks down in floods of tears, overcome by the sheer enormity of the occasion. More than 50,000 sports fans clearly agree with that, having watched The World Games video of Polish powerlifter Jaroslaw Olech welling up with pride at having won his third consecutive gold medal at The World Games. If you missed seeing it, it is essential viewing because it sums up perfectly what The World Games means to the athletes and to the Polish hosts.

Squash: France Eyes Up Record World Games Medal Haul

After all four French players made it through to the quarter-finals of the World Games Squash Championships in Poland, three progressed on to the semi-finals as the nation set its sights on a record medal haul at the Squash venue Hasta la Vista. Frenchmen will be on either side of the men's semi-final draw after Mathieu Castagnet and Gregoire Marche - both 5/8 seeds - fought off quarter-final opposition on the all-glass showcourt at the 33-court Hasta la Vista, the world's largest squash club. World No.24 Castagnet twice came from behind to beat German left-hander Raphael Kandra. "I really want to bring back a medal. It's so important for us to do well here. We have to do all we can to get our sport into the Olympics," said 30-year-old Castagnet.
