Joey Chan- will Hong Kong get unlikely gold?

After her amazing five set victory over Nicol David, the reigning champion of The World Games, Hong Kong Squash player Joey Chan is set to feature in today's gold medal final. In a result that must have surprised even herself, Chan came from being two sets to one down to take the next two sets and dump the Malaysian into the bronze playoff. David has won the women’s Squash title in the last three editions of The World Games, and was looking to make history by adding a fourth gold medal to her collection. Chan, ranked 19th in the world has had an indifferent few years since winning the last of her six minor tournament titles in 2015. She has not appeared in any finals for the past two seasons.

What a time therefore to produce the performance of her career and defeat the eight-time World Champion, and reach her biggest final to date. All of Hong Kong will be willing her onto victory against Camille Serme, the Frenchwoman who is the world number two, and is in fine form with several recent major titles to her name. Chan has already upset the odds once. Can she do it again and claim an unexpected gold medal?
