Joachim Gossow Extends Contract

Joachim Gossow Extends Contract

Joachim Gossow, CEO of the International World Games Association, has signed a contract extension until 2021. The IWGA Board agreed to further cooperation with its CEO to set the way for The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama from 15 – 25 July 2021.

IWGA President José Perurena stated: “We are very pleased by the way that Joachim Gossow has taken our multi-sport event to the next level. We recognise the progress that we have achieved in the recent editions of The World Games, and we are aiming to follow this track into the future. That is why we have agreed to extend the contract with Joachim Gossow, who leads our staff and who has the full confidence of our member federations and of the upcoming host city.”

IWGA CEO Joachim Gossow responded: “Developing The World Games is an ongoing process. There is still a lot to do and to achieve. I am gratified by the support from our Board, for me and for our common strategy, by extending my contract. This project cannot be successful without teamwork, and I am privileged to be heading a team of staff and experts, under the directive of the IWGA officers, who can guarantee outstanding events in 2021 and further on. For this reason it was easy for me to decide to stay on, and to remain part of a great organisation, one that is dedicated to serve its members and to preserve the values of sport: Fair Play and Respect!”

Joachim Gossow has served The World Games since 2002. He was Head of the Sports Department at The World Games 2005 in Duisburg. After his successful work on behalf of a host city, he became IWGA Sports Director and in 2010 CEO of the International World Games Association.
