Double Mini Trampoline star earns recognition following qualification to The World Games 2025

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is proud to announce Ruben Padilla of the United States as The World Games Athlete of the Month for May 2025. The accolade comes on the heels of Padilla’s hard-fought qualification for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China, where he will represent Team USA in the discipline of gymnastics – double mini trampoline.

Padilla’s selection follows an inspiring journey back to The World Games stage. Having competed at TWG 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama—where he narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish—Padilla returns with renewed purpose and momentum after securing his second consecutive Games berth.

“Qualifying for The World Games again is incredibly meaningful,” said Padilla. “The competition this time was even tougher, and I had to push myself in new ways—physically, mentally, and emotionally. That’s what makes this feel so earned. It’s not just an achievement; it’s a testament to growth.”

The 2022 disappointment, where a single misstep cost him a medal, has remained a key motivator.

That experience lit a fire in me. Since then, I’ve focused on building consistency, refining execution, and embracing each competition with presence and purpose,” he reflected.

“My coach, Sven Nielsen, has played a huge part in helping me refocus and prepare for this next challenge.”

Padilla’s hard work paid off. He went on to capture back-to-back World Championship titles following his 2022 campaign, a clear indication of his rising dominance in the sport. As he eyes Chengdu, Padilla is focused not only on securing a podium finish but also on savouring every moment of the journey.

“Wearing the red, white, and blue again is such an honour,” he said. “This time, it’s about redemption. I’m giving everything I have to bring home a medal and make my country proud.”

Beyond his personal goals, Padilla remains a passionate advocate for Trampoline and Tumbling, aiming to elevate the sport’s visibility and inspire future generations. “The talent and dedication in our sport deserve more attention. I want to help showcase that to the world.”

When asked about his latest honour, Padilla was quick to acknowledge the unwavering support of his loved ones:

“My mom is going to be over the moon! This recognition means the world, and I’m truly grateful to be named The World Games Athlete of the Month. I’ll continue to represent the values of sportsmanship, competitiveness, and integrity as I prepare for Chengdu.”

With The World Games 2025 on the horizon, all eyes will be on Ruben Padilla as he returns to the global stage, ready to fly higher than ever.
