IWGA mourns the death of CMAS Honorary President

The World Underwater Federation CMAS announced that the Honorary President Mr. Achille Ferrero, born in 1933, passed away on Friday, January 25th. Ferrero was the president of CMAS for 20 years, from 1993 to 2013, a record that no President has until now equaled within the Confederation.

He left the office in 2013, after which he was appointed Honorary President of the CMAS. He received several prizes and awards during his life dedicated exclusively to sport and its development.

The thoughts of The World Games Family are with Mr. Ferrero's beloved ones at this very difficult time.

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 15-25 July 2021. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in the Games.
