The World Games 2029 Organisation Committee welcomed the IWGA delegation on 15 April 2026 in Karlsruhe for the 2nd Coordination Committee (CoCom) meeting, marking an important milestone in the planning of the multi-sport event to be held from 19-29 July 2029.
The meeting was held jointly by the International World Games Association (IWGA), the TWG 2029 Organising Committee, and the City of Karlsruhe, bringing together all parts involved in the delivery of the Games. Chaired by IWGA Vice-President Tom Dielen, the session highlighted the strong collaboration within the CoCom structure.
Discussions focused on key areas including the financial framework, the final review of the Sports Programme ahead of ratification at the upcoming AGM, and the overall Games Master Plan covering venues, accommodation, transport, and event concepts.
Participants also reviewed key milestones for 2026–2027, ensuring alignment on timelines and decision-making processes. In addition, updates were provided on cooperation with service partners, as well as marketing, sponsorship, and communications strategies shaping the road to 2029.
A series of working meetings had already taken place earlier in the week, allowing technical teams from the IWGA and the TWG 2029 Organising Committee to advance detailed planning across multiple operational areas ahead of the CoCom session.
Tom Dielen, Vice President of the IWGA, emphasized the collaborative progress made in Karlsruhe:
“Bringing everyone together in Karlsruhe this week has allowed us to move from planning into concrete delivery. The strong cooperation between the IWGA, the TWG 2029 Organising Committee and our partners gives us great confidence that The World Games 2029 will set new standards.”
The meeting concluded with alignment on next steps leading up to the IWGA Annual General Meeting (AGM) later this month, where further key decisions on the Karlsruhe 2029 project are expected.
