IKF World Korfball Championship

PRESS RELEASE ON THE IKF WORLD KORFBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2015

During the last International Korfball Federation Executive Committee meeting the IKF Exco made a draw to establish the pools for the opening round of the IKF World Korfball Championship to be held from 30 October to 8 November 2015 in Antwerp, Ghent and Tielen, Belgium.

The Netherlands is the current holder of the World Korfball Championship following the last championship held in Shaoxing, China in 2011.

The 10^th IKF World Korfball Championship (IKF WKC) is the most important korfball event in the IKF’s 2015 calendar. The result of the draw is:

1.	Belgium	The Netherlands	Chinese Taipei	Portugal
2.	Australia	Czech Republic	Catalonia	England
3.	Russia	Germany	Hong Kong	China
4.	Brazil	Hungary	Poland	South Africa

The teams were placed according to the current IKF Ranking (November 2014).

Brazil participates for the first time in an IKF World Korfball Championship.

Brazil qualified as All American Korfball Champion.

The International World Games Association (IWGA) is a non-profit-making international sports organisation recognised and supported by the International Olympic Committee. The IWGA comprises 40 International Member Sports Federations. It administers and promotes The World Games (TWG), a multi-sport event held every four years that features around 35 sports on its programme. The World Games 2025 are currently taking place in Chengdu (CHN) until 17 August 2025. 4,000 athletes from more than 110 countries are taking part in this 12th edition. The latest Games were hosted by Birmingham, Alabama (USA) in 2022.
