The winners of the previous three World Championships, Brazil (1999 / 2003), Austria (2007) and Germany (2011 / TWG2013), stand the best chances of winning the title again. The Argentinian hosts and the Swiss team are considered close runner-ups, while Namibia, USA, Italy and Chile might have an outside chance of winning.

Sports fans are looking with great anticipation towards the opening game on Saturday between host Argentina and the Team USA, right after the opening ceremony.

The best five teams of this World Championship automatically qualify for the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Polish team receives the wild card spot for being the hosting country and therefore also automatically qualified for the World Games.
