Congratulations to Anna Matus and Gabriele Goffredo representing Moldova, The World Games Athletes of the Month for January 2022.
The DanceSport couple booked their ticket to The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama at the WDSF The World Games Continental Qualifier for Europe for the Latin discipline.
Their success in Fene (Spain) gives them the chance to dig for gold at the TWG for the third time, after they became The World Games Champions in Cali 2013 (Columbia) and Wroclaw 2017 (Poland). Their performance during the qualification made it clear that Anna Matus and Gabriele Goffredo are also among the favourites at the competition in the Legacy Arena of the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Complex on 8th July.
The couple won the qualification tournament on 29th January. 24 couples danced on the floor to be qualified for the 11th edition of The World Games. The two winning athletes competing for Moldova were also shortlisted for the IWGA Greatest Athlete of All Time in 2021.
Gabriele Goffredo and Anna Matus started dancing together in 2011. Together they have won 79 DanceSport events in their competitive career. Currently they hold six world championship titles: three world titles in Adults Category and three in the Professional Division.
By the way, the two dancers are not only a couple on the dance floor. They have been married since 2019, and became proud parents last year.
As The World Games Athletes of the Month, Matus and Goffredo will receive The World Games Athlete of the Month diploma as well as a branded gift from the Official Sponsor of Athlete of the Month, Protective Life.

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association, organised with the support of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 7-17 July 2022. 3,600 athletes from 34 sports and over 100 countries will take part in The World Games.
