Mayor of Birmingham re-elected

Mayor Randall Woodfin has secured four more years at the helm in Birmingham, Alabama.

The race was called for Woodfin late Tuesday night, when he secured more than 64% of the vote with a total of 23,616 votes.

President of the International World Games Association José Perurena congratulated Mayor Woodfin and said: “On behalf of the Executive Committee and Member Federations of the International World Games Association, I would like to offer you our warmest congratulations. We wish you every success in your next term of office.

We are confident that under your guidance the trustful and friendly relations will continue, and that we will welcome together athletes from all over the world for The World Games in Alabama next year.”

Randall Woodfin has been the Mayor of Birmingham since 2017, and he has participated in promotion of The World Games 2022 on several occasions.

 The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 7-17 July 2022. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in The World Games.
