International Sports Broadcasting (ISB), which successfully cooperated with host broadcaster ATM at The World Games in 2017, will be the host broadcaster for The World Games 2021. The agreement was signed in Madrid on Thursday.

“IWGA and the Birmingham Organising Committee have reached an agreement on a new level of broadcasting for The World Games. As in Wroclaw 2017, a 24/7 Channel will be available for the global distribution of The Games. In addition, international broadcasters will get the chance to pick up specific streams of sports that are popular in their countries. ISB will use up to eight OB vans for the production of the TV signal,” IWGA TV and Marketing Coordinator Hagen Bossdorf says.

For the first time, virtual graphics for various sports will be included in the international feed of The World Games 2021. Video content for distribution on social media will be available comprehensively as well. This time, ISB will not only act as the production arm of The World Games; they will take over the international marketing of the media rights too.

In addition to the cooperation with international broadcast partners around the globe, IWGA and ISB plan to continue the successful cooperation with Olympic Channel to secure distribution of The World Games 2021 to all territories in the world.

IWGA President José Perurena is very satisfied with the development: “This decision regarding TV production is fundamental to delivering The World Games successfully for the media and for people around the world. The deal is the first step for international media distribution, and we are certain that we will be able to showcase The World Games all around the world – just as in Wroclaw in 2017.”

"We are excited to welcome ISB to our team,” said DJ Mackovets, CEO of The World Games 2021 in Birmingham. “They are industry leaders in the international multi-sport event space who have extensive experience in high-profile competitions. They are the best at what they do, and will be an enormous asset as we bring The Games to Birmingham and share them across the world.”

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 15-25 July 2021. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in the Games.
