Athlete of the Month March 2019

In March this year, Rodrigo Miranda (CHI) has won gold in both the Men’s Jump and the Men’s Overall competition at the IWWF Pan American Waterski Championships. This he did on his home ground, at Lago Los Morros in Chile.

He is our Athlete of March 2019!

Rodrigo Miranda has four medals from The World Games: silver from 2005, 2013 and 2017 and gold from 2009. After The World Games 2017, he said “I am always looking for gold, but I'm happy with my jumps and the 2nd place”. Perhaps he will taste gold again in 2021!

For Rodrigo Miranda, waterskiing is a family sport: all his three children waterski, and Miranda’s biggest rival in competitions is his brother – Felipe Miranda! Rodrigo Miranda’s eldest son Martin is Latin American Champion in Waterski Tricks, and the younger children have started waterskiing with Rodrigo while sleeping in a baby carrier!

After the Pan American Championships, Rodrigo Miranda achieved second place at the prestigious Moomba Masters international tournament, which takes place in Australia. The good results achieved in the final weeks prior to the trip to Melbourne had excited the Chilean, who was in search of an unprecedented medal. They have also given him real confidence for a season that will be very demanding.

Miranda will receive The World Games Athlete of the Month diploma as well as a branded gift from the Official Sponsor of Athlete of the Month, Protective Life.
