Athlete of February 2024

World-renowned Filipino Pool star Carlo Biado is February’s Athlete of the Month!

After a successful weekend in Las Vegas (USA), the Billards professional is back at the top of the sport after winning the Predator WPA Men’s World 10-Ball Championship on 3 March, taking down Naoyuki Oi from Japan in an exciting final by 3-1 in sets.

Biado, 40, concluded a triumphant week in Nevada in securing the runner-up position in the Las Vegas Open as well as clinching the gold medal in World 10-Ball.

“I’m overwhelmed! I’m very very happy to finally get the World 10-Ball title, I want to thank God for this wonderful victory,” said the ‘black tiger’ of the American pool community.

With his recent winning campaign, Biado has added another World title to his collection following his twin wins during the 2021 Abu Dhabi 9-Ball Open and the 2021 US Open Pool Championships.

For this majestic display of Pool and a long list of accomplishments, Biado is the second athlete named for the 2024 Athlete of the Month Series, after archer Mike Schloesser (NED) in January. Biado will be awarded a diploma from the International World Games Association and a branded gift.

In 2017 at The World Games in Wrocław (POL), Biado topped the Men’s 9-Ball to claim Philippines' first gold medal, while he failed to defend his title in Birmingham (USA) in 2022 where he had to settle for fourth.

According to the qualification criteria, the Filipino maestro, once a golf caddy, is already qualified for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu (CHN). We look forward to watching him next year.
