Artist Marcus Fetch has created a mural in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. He hopes to get the citizens talking about The World Games 2021. The unique ‘B’ mark paints a picture for The World Games as the city looks to climb up the interest ranks as an international destination. It is located on The Waites building at Richard Arrington, between the University and 7th Avenue South.

In 2014 The World Games were awarded to the City of Birmingham. In 2017 the event was hold in Wroclaw, Poland. Now it’s to time to bring the multi-sports event to the new host city. “We want to bring great excitement to the city and the state of Alabama,” said DJ Mackovets, CEO of the 2021 World Games Organising Committee, about the piece of art created by Marcus Fetch. There’s no doubt that it’s an eye catcher and raises some awareness: The local TV station WBRC reported on the mural, as well as the newspaper AL.

Artist Marcus Fetch said his goal for the artwork is to educate people about what The World Games actually are. DJ Mackovets added: "Large format graphics like this are a very easy way to catch somebody's eye and get their attention and say, 'Oh wow, this thing is real. It's coming.'"

Marcus Fetch hopes that his piece of art will become well-known not only in Birmingham. He said: "I'm also hoping that once people from all over the world, and the athletes and their families come into town, they will want to come right here to this spot and take photos with the mural in the background. That'd be really awesome."
