IF Passports sent out

Last week the IWGA Office sent out the so-called IF Passports. The addressees were the 30 member federations participating in the official sports programme of The World Games 2021 (15-25 July 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama). The IF passport sets out the contractual framework for participation in the 11thedition of the multi-sport event.

The IF Passports will be signed by the respective Federations ahead of the SportAccord Convention (5-10 May 2019) in Gold Coast, Australia. The agreements will provide the facts and figures for the competitions during TWG 2021.

The Passport specifies the number of participating athletes and officials such as coaches or judges. It also names the individual disciplines and medal events during the ten days of competition at The World Games 2021. In addition, the venue at which the competitions will be held will also be named.

“The signing of the IF Passport marks an important milestone on the way to Birmingham. The agreement defines all important framework data, and creates planning security for both the host city and the Federations,” as Sebastian Riediger, Head of IF and Games Services, says.

Following the announcement of the sports programme in April 2018, the IWGA, together with representatives of the Local Organising Committee and the Federations, started to negotiate all the details. "We have had intensive discussions, especially after the Competition Managers Meeting in early October, to guarantee high-class competitions within The World Games. I therefore assume that there will only be minor changes before the final signature," said Sebastian Riediger.

Based on the coordinated data, the Federations can now plan their competitions in detail. And the local organisers now have all the data they need to organise accommodation, catering and transport, for example.

The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 15-25 July 2021. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in the Games.
