Birmingham, Alabama is busy actively drawing the attention of sports fans to The World Games 2021 (15 to 25 July). How? Here are four ways of ensuring that you don’t miss any news about The World Games 2021 and the host city Birmingham.
One of the most unique parts of The World Games is the fan interaction. There’s a distinct thrill in hearing groups cheer together for their country’s team, and a rewarding feeling when comradery is found between visitors at The World Games Plaza. Supporters who were once strangers become fast friends over events like Finswimming or Canoe Polo — and The World Games serves as the backdrop for their friendship.
This begs the question: how can we aid these fans in connecting with each other now, three years before The Games?
Luckily, we live in the age of digital media. And as we prepare for The World Games 2021, we’re excited to announce that we have launched a brand new website (https://theworldgames2021.com/) and relaunched our social media channels, with expanded content and new features! Through The World Games 2021 Birmingham digital channels, our goal is to make sure fans feel connected to each other, to events, and to The Games well in advance of the Opening Ceremony.
Here are four ways you can connect with us:
Sharing The World Games Content
Every day, The World Games 2021 social channels feature new content. Whether it’s an educational fact of the day, a humorous photo or an exciting announcement from our new website, we’re hoping to bring fans together in celebration of The 2021 Games. But, in order to do that, we need your help. By sharing our content — for example, retweeting a fun quiz on Twitter — you’re helping to get the word out about The Games and assisting your followers in finding other fans to connect with. That’s a win-win.
Tagging the Official Account
So far along the road to Birmingham, we’ve found that one thing is clear: fans are talking about The World Games. However, they aren’t always tagging our official handles when they post about us — most likely because they aren’t aware that we have a social media presence. You can help bridge this knowledge gap by tagging our official handles when you post about us. This will help fans of The World Games around the world come together to discuss the best parts of the competition.
For reference, here are our official handles:
Visiting the New Website
This year, we’ve launched a brand-new website, complete with photos, videos, news updates and information about The 2021 Games. Feel free to link back to any of the content on our website while sharing details about The World Games 2021, as this will keep all of the fans, athletes and Federations informed about our latest updates. Also, be sure to check back frequently: over the next three years, we’ll be rolling out even more exciting features for every fan to enjoy.
Sending Fan Updates
Finally, we want our followers to see what other supporters are up to across the globe. You can help us accomplish this goal by sending in photos or videos of fan activities to our social media platforms. This gives you the opportunity to share content you care about and opens the door for fans to connect with each other. Circulating this kind of content helps fans, athletes and Federations get a glimpse into each others’ lives and begin building rapport before the big event in 2021.
These are just a few of the ways that you can get involved with The World Games! Whether you share a tweet, post or tag, you’ll be helping to connect the next generation of fans with each other, no matter the distance between them.
