At the Opening Ceremony of the 10th edition of The World Games in Wroclaw, Poland on Thursday, it will be IOC President Thomas Bach who will declare the Games to be open. More than 40,000 spectators will attend the Opening Ceremony for the biggest sporting event ever to be held in Poland. The IOC President will take part in the ceremony at the main stadium of Wroclaw on the invitation of José Perurena, President of the International World Games Association. Wroclaw’s Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz will welcome the world to his city.
Continuing until 30 July, 3,250 athletes coming from 111 nations will compete in 218 medal events. There are 27 sports on the official programme, and four invitational sports will present themselves at the TWG 2017.
The hosts of the 10th edition of The World Games promise to deliver a spectacular show during the Opening Ceremony. On the biggest stage in Poland, it will emphasise the aspiration of the host city to deliver nothing less than the best World Games ever.
Following 2009 in Kaohsiung (Chinese Taipei) and 2013 in Cali (Colombia), The World Games are back in Europe. The current edition promises the best outcome ever in terms of TV coverage. Channels in more than 130 countries all over the world will broadcast the competitions, which will take place in 26 venues. The Olympic Channel and The World Games Channel will also be covering the event.
