Muaythai: Perfect Stage for Moments to be Remembered

The Muaythai fighters were prepared for the final 11 bouts for gold and silver on Sunday, with the fight-off for bronze taking place in the morning. This was the day Muaythai has been building towards for many years, and now these athletes had the chance to shine on the world stage and to take the first Muaythai gold medals ever given out at The World Games.Vietnam's Bui Yen Li became the very first gold medalist in this new and exciting sport on the program of The World Games. This marks the third time that Vietnam have topped the podium at an edition of The World Games.

DanceSport: Gold for Poland

Roland Hilfiker, Communications Director of the WDSF, really knows how to promote his sport and how to describe an outstanding evening at the Centennial Hall; If one had to look for another word to sum up the moment when the Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll event staged as part of The World Games 2017 in Wroclaw, POL, came to an end, there is only one, APOTHEOSIS! How else could one describe the outcome of the great efforts put in by Jacek Tarczylo - Anna Miadzielec, POL, to make their country proud - and to move up in the medal table ... Jacek and Anna made it look too easy. But everyone who knows sport is aware of the fact that going into a competition as the top contenders tends to make everything difficult. If this holds true for other sports, you can easily imagine that the risks of failure are multiplied in Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll. Well done, Jacek and Anna! We are looking forward to seeing you defend your title in 2021 Birmingham, AL, USA.

Floorball: Today’s historic final

The historical first ever floorball final at The World Games will be played between Sweden and Switzerland. The Swedes survived a scare against the Czechs, while Switzerland was in the driving seat for nearly the whole match against Finland.
Switzerland has never won against Sweden in an important match, so one of the biggest questions on Sunday afternoon will be whether the Swiss players have the mental strength to defy history and beat the Swedes in this big occasion. Against Finland, the Swiss players were confident, created a lot of chances and found the net five times. The confidence is high, but they definitely need at least to perform at the same level or better, if they want to become the first floorball champions at The World Games. Both teams will naturally be very hungry for the win, as Switzerland chases its first ever major tournament triumph, whereas Sweden wants to return to the summit of World Floorball.

Wilson downs The Pilot

The shock winners continue to emerge in the Billiard Sports at The World Games. Following Filipino Carlo Biado's completely unexpected triumph in Pool, it was Snooker's turn to upset the formbook. In the all British final between Ali Carter and Kyren Wilson, it was widely expected that Carter would prevail. The former World number two (whose hobby is flying planes) has twice appeared in the Final of Snooker's most prestigious tournament, the World Championship, held every year at the Crucible theatre in the Northern English city of Sheffield. Wilson by contrast has often struggled to qualify for major tournaments and has only one tournament victory to his name, when he captured the 2015 Shanghai Masters. However it is Kyren Wilson who has taken the gold medal in The World Games Final comprehensively outplaying “The Pilot” to secure a four fames to one triumph.
