Athletes of the (first) Day

Every day the International World Games Association will be awarding prizes for the male and female IWGA Athlete of the Day - powered by Tissot! After the first competition day on Friday, the Vice President of the Wroclaw Organizing Committee, Adam Roczek presented kickboxing champion Roza Gumienna (POL) and finswimmer Dmitrii Zhurman (RUS) with their Tissot watches on the stage of The World Games Plaza next to National Forum of Music.

Roza Gumienna was honoured for giving the Fair Play oath at the Opening Ceremony on Friday. On behalf of all the athletes participating in The World Games the 27-year-old athlete from Poland promised that she will take part in the event respecting and abiding by the rules of the event. Roza Gumienna will compete in the kickboxing event, one of the invitational sports on the program. She aims to grab for a medal as the current World Champion in the discipline in Lowkick, and winner of a World Cup Competition on K1. The K1 discipline is on the program of TWG 2017.

Finswimmer Dmitrii Zhurman (RUS) was awarded with the first gold medal for a male athlete at TWG 2017. The 20-years-old athlete set a new World Games record in the Fin Swimming Men's Surface 100m Final (34.70 sec) at the sold out Orbita pool.
