Athlete of the Day 2

Athlete of the Day 2

Every day the International World Games Association will be awarding prizes for the male and female IWGA Athlete of the Day - powered by Tissot! Today, the jury of experts has selected the gymnasts Sara Moreno and Vicente Lli. The Aerobic Mixed Pair won gold after a commanding win in the finals at the Centennial Hall. The Honorary Life President of the IWGA, Ron Froehlich, presented the champions with their Tissot watches on the stage of The World Games Plaza next to National Forum of Music.

Sara Moreno and Vicente Lli were honoured for being the consecutive champions of the The World Games after claiming the title at TWG 2013 in Cali/Colombia as well. In Kaohsiung 2009 they won a silver medal. Even though they are experienced in performing in The World Games, the latest success means the most to the 27-year-old woman and the 26-year-old-man. Describing the competition and the atmosphere at the Centennial Hall Vicente Lli said: “It was the best experience ever.”

And there was even more which makes their success so special. At the last year’s World Championships they were the best pair from the preliminaries as they went into the finals. But a fall meant they finished eighth in the end and just got one of the last tickets to Wroclaw. Vicente Lli described how this incident changed their attitude: “It was a turning point for us. Since then we are no longer focused on the ranking but on enjoying our sport.” Enjoying the moment onstage and winning a gold medal might have doubled the fun.
