The World Games congratules Ron Froehlich!

The World Games family sends its sincere congratulations to the IWGA Honorary President Ron Froehlich, who turned 80 years last week.

Ron Froehlich served as the President of the International World Games Association (IWGA) 1992-2014. At the Annual General Meeting 2014 in Belek he was appointed IWGA Honorary Life President.

In 2010, Ron Froehlich was awarded the Olympic Order, the highest award of the Olympic Movement, by International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge. In 2015, he was named Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Distinguished American Sportsman and in 2017 he received the SportAccord award in recognition of his dedication and commitment to Sport and for his services to SportAccord and the SportAccord Convention.

Ron Froehlich has been dedicating himself to the world of sports as a volunteer since 1962. “Everything I have done during the years has been for the athletes. No matter what organisation I have worked for, it’s for the athletes. In the sports world, the athletes come first. And second. And third”, he says. He is deeply involved in the organisation of The World Games 2021, which will be staged in his hometown Birmingham, Alabama.

IWGA President José Perurena says: “Ron Froehlich has always sought the best for international sports. He treats everyone equally and always works to bring people together. He cares most for the athletes’ best interests. The athletes come first.”

The World Games Family wishes Ron good health and plenty of energy for the years ahead!
