Athlete of the Year race tighter than ever

Athlete of the Year race tighter than ever

We have reached the final days of The World Games Athlete of the Year race – and the race is at least as exciting as last year’s! The two leading candidates – Acrobatics Gymnastics couple Chernova & Pataraia (RUS) and Powerlifter Jennifer Thompson (USA) – both have over 100,000 votes.

But there are battles behind them too: the Greek Beach Handball team currently has 12,572 votes and DanceSport couple Zharkov & Kulikova (RUS) have 12,607 – who will draw the longer straw there? And will Fistball star Patrick Thomas (GER) or Flying Disc legend Dominique Fontenette (USA) finish 9th? In three days’ time we will know all the answers!

As The World Games Athlete of the Year vote has grown in popularity, it has even woken up the internet robots. A bot has been identified voting for the Muaythai candidate Svetlana Vinnikova, and the votes cast by the bot have now been removed. Vinnikova still remains in fourth place with all the votes cast by her fans around the world.

Check out the current situation and cast your vote in the most exciting Athlete of the Year vote ever:
