Birmingham (USA), Lima (Peru) and Ufa (Russia) run for 2021

On 31 July the bidding phase for The World Games 2021 expired. Birmingham (USA), Lima (Peru) and Ufa (Russia) applied to the International World Games Association for hosting the 11th edition of the multi-sport event.

IWGA President José Perurena López expressed satisfaction with his first review of the bid files: "All three bid documents fulfill the high expectations that we have regarding a host city for a multi-sport event with 4,500+ participants. We therefore consider them as official Candidate Cities and will continue the evaluation process by visiting all three cities."

The IWGA Bid Evaluation Commission, headed by Vice-President Max Bishop visited the three candidate cities during October. The announcement of the The World Games 2021 host city will be made at a press conference after the final round of presentations in January 2015. The contract with the future Host City will be ratified and signed at the 2015 IWGA Annual General Meeting in the spring.
