Roy Baker new WAKO President

Roy Baker (IRL) was elected as the new President of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) at the Extraordinary Assembly held at Sheraton Monza, Italy, on February 2nd. The World Games congratulates Mr Baker and wishes him all the best as the new President!

At the Assembly there were 51 countries with voting rights and at least 10 countries participating as observers. Roy Baker takes the role of the president following the tragic death of the previous WAKO President Borislav Pelevic. After the Assembly, Espen Lund was chosen unanimously as WAKO 1st Vice-President. Ms Francesca Falsoni, who has acted as the Interim President over the past few months, will resume her position as Vice-President and Chairman of the Legal Committee.

 The World Games is a multi-sport event staged every four years by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, 15-25 July 2021. 3,600 athletes from over 30 sports and 100 countries will take part in the Games.
