Pope’s pilot is Ambassador for TWG

One of the most honoured pilots in Polish aviation, Jerzy Makula, is one of the ambassadors for The World Games 2017.

Jerzy Makula is seven-times individual world champion and three-times European champion in Glider Acrobatics. In everyday life Jerzy Makula is a pilot for LOT - the official TWG 2017 carrier. He has even flown the Pope himself, when he was returning to Rome from World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow. "LOT is renowned for its world-class pilots," says Adrian Kubicki, Director of Corporate Communications at LOT. "We are proud that one of our colleagues will showcase his master craftsmanship at this unique sporting event.”

"The Wroclaw Games will be an excellent opportunity to promote Air Sports both in Poland and in the world," says Captain Makula. “Our country has a wonderful tradition and great achievements in Glider Acrobatics. It is great to be writing more chapters of this story during such spectacular events as The World Games 2017.”

While Captain Makula will delight the audience in Glider Acrobatics, other LOT pilots will provide a comfortable and enjoyable journey for athletes and spectators from all over the world who come to Wroclaw for the Games. "As a national carrier and one of the most recognisable Polish brands, we are delighted to be involved in projects that promote Poland across the world," says Kubicki. “With The World Games and the participants we also share common values such as passion, motivation and professionalism in action.”

The organisers of The World Games also enjoy the cooperation: “The commitment of Captain Makula and LOT is a special reason for us to be proud and satisfied. It confirms that The World Games brings together the best of the best - both athletes and business partners,” says Marcin Przychodny, President of the Wrocław Organising Committee.
