Duathlon
Everyone know triathlon, the "composite" sport made up of swimming, cycling and running. Duathlon is, quite simply put, triathlon minus one. The swimming leg is dropped in this competitive sport that is made up by only two others. Cycling and running! In a duathlon competition, a running leg is followed by a cycling leg and another running leg. Triathlon was a sport of The World Games until 1993 and made its Olympic debut in the Sydney 2000 Games. Could it be that duathlon is trying to emulate the formula?
Duathlon features in The World Games 2013; check the event calendar for details about when it is scheduled.

The International Triathlon Union, ITU ...
This is what ITU has to say about the duathlon, which it also governs.
Consisting of running and cycling, duathlon can be contested on almost any terrain, although usually on tarmac. The ITU Duathlon World Championships are held on an annual basis and consist of a 10km run, 40km cycle and 5km run. At elite level the cycling is draft legal.
Although many competitors specialize in duathlon, the sport is often used during the triathlon off-season by Age Groupers and elites to improve their run speed and bike power. Events are usually held in the spring or autumn so as not to clash with summer triathlon races.
Not to be confused with ...
Duathlon is a run – cycle – run combination. It is sometimes confused with biathlon, which is the term describing an Olympic winter sport made up of cross-country skiing and shooting.
Powerman ...
