“You have done an excellent job and I am sure you will be ready for 2013”, said Ron Froehlich, President of IWGA – International World Games Association -, after checking the work plans of the different departments working on the event.
There were long hours of analysis and observation from the different sports organizations and governmental bodies. "We thank all of you for entrusting the organization of this great international event to Cali, " said the Mayor of Cali, Dr. Rodrigo Guerrero, in his speech. "We are working with the support of very capable people ".
The agenda consisted of the Competition Managers' Meeting and CoCom Meeting, committees created under the national and international technical parameters of the IWGA and the Games' organizers, and included participation of government institutions and sports federations: "The sports program from July 25th to August 4th is fixed, but it could be still further improved in terms of competitiveness if you, as federations, ensure you bring your very best athletes", was one of the remarks of Joachim Gossow, IWGA Sports Director.
Checks were made on the manning and organization of tasks related to budget, ceremonies, medals, accreditations, hotels, media, promotion, sponsorship, etc. "On visas and passports, we have the full cooperation of the immigration agencies. We spoke to the Foreign Ministry, and they will ensure that their staff cooperate with all athletes, officials and visitors, "said Mrs. Susana Correa, Executive Director of The World Games.
This world sports meeting was attended by the Executive Committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA), Olympic Committees, Coldeportes, Colombian Olympic Committee, National Sports Federations, Competition Managers or Representatives of International Federations, Venue Managers or local delegates of the sports of the World Games, the Mayor of Cali, the Valle del Cauca State Governor, representatives of Swiss Timing and WADA, and national and international guests.
