7 teams in the men's division and 6 teams in the women's division played the round-robin preliminary rounds of the U-18 World Fistball Championships from 26 to 28 July. Qualification and sem-final rounds then led up to the two finals on Sunday.

In the men's final, Brazil defeated Switzerland with 3 sets to 1. The Austrian women kept Germany in second place with an even more convincing 3 sets to 0.

For the Colombian hosts and organisers it was particularly gratifying to discover that their men's squad was competitive already - they started with fistball only two years ago - and that the sport found great acceptance with the general public.

As was the case with the DanceSport pre-event one week earlier, Colombian brodacaster RTVC aired the fistball finals live and nationwide on Sunday afternoon.

Another test gets passed with flying colors by the Cali Local Organising Committee. More World Games pre-events are scheduled for the remainder of the year, with air sports and powerlifting coming up next in August.
