“All the activities set to take place need motivation.  It’s like a lubricant that helps an engine work at its highest level.  The volunteers are that special ingredient that will help move The World Games," Mayor Guerrero stated. “In the Pan American Games of 1971, the people of Cali took hold of the event, and this will be no exception….In Cali, public spirit is in our blood”.  Mr. Guerrero urged all those in the packed auditorium to help build this fundamental yet important aspect of the event, and push The World Games to success.

In a similar light, Ms. Clara Luz Roldan, Secretary of Sports and Recreation of Cali, indicated that with these steps Cali can take back the title of capital of sports of the Americas: “Also, we’re going to show that Cali has never lost it’s excellent civic spirit”, expressed the Secretary in front of the President of the local organizing committee, Mr. Rodrigo Otoya, the Rector of the National School of Sports, Jose Fernando Arroyo, the employees of The World Games, rectors of public and private universities, senior groups, and handicapped persons.

Silvio Lopez, Director of Services of The World Games, said that the base used to select the 3500 volunteers that will help the games, is one that is excellent: “Like in chess, the pawn consolidates in order to become the most important piece on the board”.

Equally, Gustavo Rincon, Volunteer Coordinator, explained that the next step will be an open meeting: “The launching is the beginning of an important job, to find the best volunteers available, and keep the promise to make these games successful”.  The coordinator explained, “We’ve started the countdown, and we’re happy to see so many institutions committed and dedicated to The Games”, conceptualized Rincon at the end of a detailed presentation that explained the work to choose this group of individuals that will be so important to The World Games.
