Changes To CLOC
Several changes to the composition of the Cali Local Organizing Committee (CLOC) have been announced on day one of the meetings between International World Games Association representatives and key members of the CLOC.
The Mayor of Cali, the Governor of the Cauca Valley Department, the Director of the ministerial-level COLDEPORTES and the President of the Colombian Olympic Committee are the new members. The organizing committee for The World Games 2013 will henceforth be presided over by a Cali enterpreneur.
The national, regional and local governments are all represented on the newly instated Cali Local Organizing Committee (CLOC). The Mayor of Cali, Rodrigo Guerrero, the Governor of the Cauca Valley Department, Héctor Fabio Useche, and the recently appointed Director of COLDEPORTES, Andrés Boteró, are joined by the President of the Colombian Olympic Committee, Baltazar Medina, and local enterpreneur Rodrigo Otoya as members of CLOC.
Rodrigo Otoya has been appointed to assume the CLOC presidency with immediate effect. In his address during launch of The World Games 2013 on 25 January, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos announced that "Dr. Otoya will be the official organizer on behalf of the Cauca Vally Department and Cali, and, between them, they form a perfect team to enure that the games are successful".
The President of the International World Games Association, Ron Froehlich, and IWGA CEO Joachim Gossow were present when the above changes to the CLOC composition were formalized on Friday 27 January.
