2013 Cali: D-Day
"D" as in "Delirium"! With festive celebrations and the televised entertainment show under this name the countdown to The World Games 2013 is formally launched at 7 p.m. today in Cali, COL.
In the lead-up to the spectacle, members of the IWGA board join more than 20 representatives of 11 National Olympic Committees (NOC) and other national multi-sport organisations for the first official meeting of the Chefs de Mission with the Cali Local Organizing Committee (CLOC).
The schedule for the afternoon foresees the NOC delegations' visit to the different World Games venues, among them the renovated Pascual Guerrero Stadium. An inspection of the hotels contracted by CLOC for the accommodation of athletes and official during The World Games rounds up the working assignments for the day.
At 7 p.m. Cali time, the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, the Mayor of Cali, Rodrigo Guerrero, and other political leaders - including the newly appointed Director of COLDEPORTES and IOC Member Andrés Boteró (pictured on the right) - welcome IWGA President and NOC representatives for the launch of the countdown to The World Games 2013 at the Coliseum Evangelista Mora. With "Delirium", a spectacular show based on Salsa - the dance style that Cali takes pride in being its foremost promoter - the 18-months countdown to the games gets underway. "Deliirium" will be televised around Latin America.
