Sport For All: Call For Action
The 14th World Sport for All Conference came to a successful conclusion in Beijing, CHN, today with 527 participants from around the world issuing a call to action in a unanimously approved final declaration.
It calls for sports as well as non-sports organizations to promote participation by all sectors of society in sport and physical activity.
2011 Sport For All Conference
Less than one week to go! The International Olympic Committee will hold its 14th World Conference on Sport for All from 20 to 23 September 2011 in Beijing, China.
Building on the legacy of the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing has experienced a boom in physical activities for the last few years, and as such will be a vibrant meeting point for experts in this field.
Six Applicant Cities
On 2 September the International Olympic Committee announced the six cities that have been put forward by their National Olympic Committees (NOCs) as applicant hosts for the 2020 Olympics.
The cities, in alphabetical order, are: Baku AZE, Doha, QAT, Istanbul, TUR, Madrid, ESP, Rome, ITA, and Tokyo JPN.
Five Years Out
After London 2012 celebrated the magic mark of one year to go to the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, it's Rio's turn to announce that 1826 days are left until Brazil will be host to the world of sports.
Today, 5 August 2011, Rio 2016 celebrates five years to go until the Opening Ceremony of its Games. Rugby will put in its first Olympic appearance then. Work remains to be done!
New Olympic Events, ... Sports?
The IOC Executive Board (EB) met today in Durban, South Africa, ahead of the 123rd IOC Session, at which the host city for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games will be chosen.
The EB confirmed the inclusion of ski slopestyle (men and women), snowboard slopestyle (men and women) and snowboard parallel special slalom on the sports program of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
