European Champions dance in Wroclaw

European Champions dance in Wroclaw

The European Championship WDSF will take place on 14 May, 2016 in Wroclaw, host of The World Games 2017. Couples from more than 20 countries will compete for the titles. Each stage of the competition, right up to the final, will see them present five standard dances: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep. The main event will be accompanied by additional competitions, so that the audience can also witness the energy and intensity of Latin dances.

The European Championship will be held at the Centennial Hall – a venue that remembers many of the biggest and most important exhibitions, conferences, international sporting and cultural events ever hosted in Wrocław. Listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage Site catalogue, the Centennial Hall is not only a monument of historic value, but also an excellent sports arena, where athletes can always count on exuberant support from the fans. It is a Dance Sport venue for The World Games 2017.

The most successful polish dance couple Andrzej Sadowski and Karina Nawrot, professional division European Championship runners-up, will partake at the European Championship. The couple participated three times in The World Games (Duisburg, Kaohsiung, Cali). “We will host so many top-class dancers, like we never have before. This will be a stunning event and a milestone moment for the preparations towards The World Games 2017,” says Alicja Majewska, Managing director of the European Championship.

The main organizer is the Polish dance sport federation, representing the country in WDSF. The official Partner of the Championship is the organizer of The World Games 2017. Dance Sport disciplines will be on the programme of TWG 2017. In fact, the 2016 European Championship will serve as one of four test events for the upcoming The World Games.

The tournament will allow both competitors and organizers to become familiar with the venue that will host numerous events during TWG 2017. “We will have a direct TV production which will be broadcasted in one of the leading Polish sports channels, related to our host broadcaster. It is as well a test for them and we are happy to be able to show this beautiful sport a broader audience,” stated Marcin Przychodny, President of the Wroclaw Organizing Committee.
